Reported against primary sources.

ASTRO member Cha Eun-woo previously terminated his exclusive contract with Fantagio by mutual agreement before later restoring his relationship with the agency, according to reporting published November 1.

Sports Kyunghyang reported that the earlier separation occurred during a period of management instability at Fantagio, when internal control disputes and gaps in company leadership reportedly made normal artist management difficult.

The two sides subsequently rebuilt their working relationship. According to the report, Fantagio entered a separate management-services agreement in July 2019 with a company established by Cha’s mother, at the artist’s request.

That agreement, which covers support for Cha’s entertainment activities, reportedly remains in effect.

The newly reported contract history offers additional context for the tax dispute involving Cha, Fantagio and business arrangements associated with his family.

According to Korean reporting, both Cha and Fantagio have paid substantial tax assessments while separately challenging the authorities’ decisions through administrative procedures.

Fantagio maintains that its agreement with the family-established company reflected legitimate services actually performed. The tax authorities’ treatment of those arrangements remains contested.

Following the November 1 reports, Fantagio told Xportsnews that it had no additional official statement on the matter.

The exact date of the earlier exclusive-contract termination has not been established in the reporting. The disclosure does not indicate that Cha has newly departed Fantagio or that his current exclusive contract has ended.

The tax dispute also remains unresolved. The existence of tax assessments and related payments does not, by itself, establish criminal wrongdoing or a final determination of improper conduct.
