EXO members Kai and Sehun are preparing to debut as a new unit this December, SM Entertainment confirmed on November 2.
The agency announced that the two artists will release their first mini-album together, establishing a new official unit within EXO. The duo’s unit name, exact release date, album title and tracklist have not yet been revealed.
Both born in 1994, Kai and Sehun are known among fans as the “94z” and have performed together extensively throughout EXO’s career.
The upcoming project will mark Kai’s first official EXO subunit debut. Sehun previously formed EXO-SC with Chanyeol, releasing music together beginning in 2019.
Although Kai and Sehun have not previously released an album as a duo, they have shared several performances and entertainment appearances outside their regular group activities.
In September 2025, Sehun made a surprise guest appearance during Kai’s solo encore concert, joining him onstage. The pair also reunited in January 2026 when Sehun appeared on Jeongwating, a spin-off of the web variety program hosted by Kai.
The announcement follows an active year for EXO, which released its eighth studio album, REVERXE, in January and embarked on its sixth concert tour. The group is scheduled to conclude the tour with three encore performances at Seoul’s KSPO Dome from November 6 to 8.
The December mini-album will introduce another configuration of EXO’s members, bringing Kai and Sehun together for their first dedicated musical project as a duo.
Further details about the unit’s music and promotional schedule are expected to be announced separately.
