Netflix Announces ‘We Go High’ K-Pop Girl Group Audition With SM C&C Support

Netflix is entering the K-pop girl group audition space with We Go High, a new competition centered on students attending South Korean high schools offering arts and broadcasting-related programs.

The streaming platform confirmed production on October 21 and opened applications the same day. Eligible applicants include current first- and second-year students at qualifying high schools, as well as students scheduled to enter those schools in the 2027 academic year.

The program will bring together aspiring performers representing their schools as they compete for places in a new K-pop girl group. Park Jin-kyung and Lee Jae-seok of production company Monstera House will direct the project.

The announcement also establishes a partnership intended to extend beyond the competition itself.

Netflix and SM C&C have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the development and activities of the group formed through We Go High. According to SM C&C’s October 21 statement, the company plans to support the eventual group’s training, management and global activities, drawing on its artist-development and content-production experience.

The arrangement gives the project a proposed path from televised competition to continued artist development, rather than limiting the partnership to production of the audition series.

However, the companies have not announced a premiere date, contestant lineup, final group size, official group name or debut schedule. The MOU also should not be interpreted as confirmation of individual contestants’ eventual contracts.
