VVS Says It Will Stop Group Activities After Losing Financial and Operational Support

The four-member girl group says Brittney, Lena, Rana and Liwon will pursue individual artist goals after months of operating independently, while leaving open the possibility of VVS returning in the future.

VVS says it will no longer continue activities as a group for the time being after losing the financial and operational support needed to keep the independent project going.

In a statement shared through its VVS SO DVS Patreon on October 10, the group said it had lost members, investment, infrastructure and financial resources while attempting to continue VVS across countries with limited support.

The remaining members — Brittney, Lena, Rana and Liwon — plan to continue pursuing their individual goals as artists.

The statement does not frame the decision as an irreversible disbandment. VVS left open the possibility that the members could return together in the future, while saying the group itself is being set aside for now.

The decision follows a major restructuring earlier this year.

In June, VVS announced that its members had been released from their exclusive contracts with MZMC and would continue as independent artists. Producer Paul Brian Thompson, who created the group and had served as MZMC’s representative, said at the time that he had retired from his previous role and would no longer act as the members’ agency representative.

Thompson described the new arrangement as a partnership rather than a traditional K-pop management structure, with the members taking greater responsibility for building their own team and careers. Ilee also left VVS during that transition, leaving Brittney, Lena, Rana and Liwon as the group’s four-member lineup.

By August, VVS was publicly documenting the practical limits of that independent model.

In an August 19 Patreon post accompanying the release of AFTER HOUR$, the group said the project had a smaller budget than its earlier releases and that the members had taken on work normally handled by a larger production structure. Brittney managed styling, Rana handled choreography, several members created and edited promotional content, and the group said it financed the release itself with additional help from Thompson.

VVS described AFTER HOUR$ as its first truly independent release.

The October 10 statement now puts that experiment on hold, with the members continuing separately rather than attempting to maintain VVS without the resources and infrastructure the group says it has lost.

VVS debuted in April 2025 with “TEA” under MZMC.
