Brazil’s National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) has ordered five ticket-resale platforms to suspend new resale transactions in the country, citing consumer-protection concerns as BTS prepares for three concerts in São Paulo.
The precautionary decision, reported October 28 and published in Brazil’s official gazette, applies to BuyTicket, Global Entretenimento–FunBuyNet, StubHub, TicketSwap Brasil and Viagogo International.
Senacon said its investigation was prompted by ticket sales surrounding BTS’s October 28, 30 and 31 performances in São Paulo.
The regulator identified potential shortcomings in information provided to consumers, including incomplete seller identification, insufficient disclosure of total prices and fees, and inadequate channels for complaints and withdrawal requests.
The order requires the five companies to suspend new resale intermediation for events in Brazil. According to Brazilian reporting, the platforms have up to 72 hours to implement the measure.
Importantly, consumers who have already purchased tickets are not automatically losing their admission rights.
Senacon has instructed the affected platforms to ensure previously purchased tickets are delivered in time for customers to attend their events, including the BTS concerts.
The regulator has also opened administrative sanction proceedings against four companies: BuyTicket, Global Entretenimento–FunBuyNet, StubHub and TicketSwap Brasil.
Companies that fail to comply with the order may face daily fines of R$100,000. Senacon has also warned that additional measures, including temporary restrictions on access to platform websites in Brazil, could follow continued noncompliance.
The decision does not establish that the platforms have already been blocked, that all previous ticket purchases are invalid or that a final ruling on liability has been reached.
The resale intervention is separate from previously reported complaints about sightlines and the stage-screen configuration for BTS’s São Paulo performances.
Unlike that dispute, the new decision directly concerns the operation of secondary ticket marketplaces and the obligations those services owe to buyers.
