Illinois has officially designated August 27 and 28 as "BTS Day in Illinois," coinciding with BTS's upcoming ARIRANG World Tour concerts at Chicago's Soldier Field.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed the proclamation ahead of the group's two Chicago shows, recognizing not only BTS's international cultural reach but also the social causes and community activity associated with the group and its fanbase.
In the proclamation, Pritzker highlighted BTS's advocacy around self-love, mental health awareness and global philanthropy, saying those messages align with Illinois's civic values.
The recognition was pushed forward locally by Chicago BTS Army and HANA Center, a Chicago-based immigrant advocacy organization. Their effort extends beyond the proclamation, with additional fan and cultural activities planned around the concerts.
The Soldier Field dates also mark a return to a significant venue in BTS's U.S. touring history. The group last performed there in 2019 during the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, when BTS became the first Korean act to headline the stadium.
BTS will perform at Soldier Field on August 27 and 28 as the ARIRANG World Tour continues through North America.
