NEW has a new home.
Only New Entertainment announced on September 28 that it has signed an exclusive contract with the singer, opening a new chapter for NEW after his departure from One Hundred Label. The agency also unveiled a new set of profile photos alongside the announcement.
The signing carries some extra weight because of where NEW fits into THE BOYZ’s turbulent year.
Nine members — Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo and Eric — moved to terminate their contracts with One Hundred earlier this year, citing unpaid settlements and a breakdown in trust. NEW was the only member who did not join that action or the subsequent injunction request.
A Seoul court granted the nine members’ injunction in April, suspending their contracts with One Hundred. NEW later ended his own contract with the company separately.
The paths have continued to diverge since then. THE BOYZ’s other nine members have signed with 78 Records for group activities and announced plans to continue together as a nine-member unit, while individual activities can be handled separately.
NEW’s move to Only New Entertainment now gives his own post-One Hundred career a defined home.
There is still an important distinction, however: NEW has not formally announced that he has left THE BOYZ. His absence from the group’s current nine-member structure and his separate agency move establish different paths for now, but they should not be treated as an official departure announcement unless that confirmation comes separately.
